at least he is in my book. John scored is very first basket in his game on Saturday. He reminds me that it was the very first basket that he as ever scored in an actual game. He was so delighted. I wish so much that I had brought my camera to capture the proud grin he sported afterwards. It was awesome. Then again, if I had been looking through my camera's lens, I probably would have missed the whole thing. This reminds me that some moments are better captured in the heart and mind. This was surely one of those moments.

Oh look at that smile- how exciting! Congrats to John!!
Hi, Amy!
Thanks so much for leaving me a comment today, I now feel much better knowing I'm not the only "freak" mom at the grocery store! :)
Your boys are just adorable! Congratulations to John on his basket, that is a huge moment for any kid, whoo-hoo!! I was reading some of your posts and all three of your boys are so cute, especially the "rock star"! He had a mohawk without even knowing it, huh? *giggle*
So sorry to hear about your son's classmate passing away, what a tragedy. It's especially hard when someone is so young like that, it seems so unfair. It is a blessing that he doesn't really understand it all that much right now. When my son Brian was in the second grade two of his classmate's mothers died, one from breast cancer and one from lung cancer, about six months apart. It was so difficult for all the children to grasp (especially the children of the families) but the whole class was really shook up. I remember Brian coming home crying and he asked me if I was going to die, too. I think it was the first time he ever thought about mortality and how it related to him. One of the hardest times I've ever had as a mom, trying to be honest and yet not scare the heck out of him in the process.
Well, I've written a small novel here! Looking forward to hearing from you again Amy! I'll be back!

Woo Hoo - way to go John!!! My girls play JV basketball for their HS and I just love going to their games. He is going to bring you many years of joy - not that he hasn't already!!! He's a cutie too!!
See you later Amy - thanks for coming by and I will see you soon. Kellan
"Some moments are better captured in the heart and mind." I love this. I live behind my camera lens far too often. Thanks for the reminder.
You're right, you couldn't have captured that one in a picture. Good job John! Mine plays bball too and he just scored his first basket too (and let me just say he's not like some of the kids playing).
Congratulations, John! Way to go!!
And Amy, you are so right -- some things are worth being in the moment for. The photo on paper may fade, but it'll stay in your heart and soul forever :)

GOOD JOB, JOHN!!! Just think, that's the first basket of the MANY you will make. WOO-HOO!!!
Oh Amy, what a pic THAT is of your boy. I love the cowlick! And the handsome, sweet face. One of my 8 year-old grandsons also plays basketball, and I got a phone call after the game when he made his first basket. I wish I would have been there!
And just so you know...hehehe...over at Blender Kimmy's site yesterday, I was already "slightly peevish" by the time I read your comment. But I will admit that I was awfully glad to read that there is someone else who sees this type of thing the same way I do! Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one :). It's just so wrong! But I won't get going again....HA!
Take care, Amy!
Way to go John!! Your mother's first basket was on the wrong side!!!
That face!!! oh that face!!!
BTW, I left you something at my blog.

Good job John! He must be so proud of himself! I get so excited when my children excel! Sometimes, I am the loudest parent on the bench!!!!

Congratulations to John. Im sure it's the first of many baskets so you can catch the next one on film.
Yeah for John! He rocks!!
Glad to see you entered the contest!

I agree with you Amy - the police are there to protect us, but they can only go as far as the law allows. They have rules to follow too. I'm sure they are just as frustrated with the justice system as we are.
For now, that man is not on the streets. That is definitely a good thing!
Have a nice day!
Kimmy
I'm going to hold you to my challenge...get that camera out and post away!!! :)
That's an awesome feeling -- for John, too, right.
My son camed thiiiiiiis close to scoring a basket at his game last week. I was proud of this effort, though I winced at his too-short Erkyl-looking shorts.
Anyway, congrats on the basket, John.
Hey thanks for the comment on my blog.
My 6 year old was in the NutCracker this last Christmas and after the ballet she wouldn't even let me take her picture. She is kind of shy.
Congrats to John!
There are so many moments I wish I caught on film, but it is really the moments you keep in your heart and in your mind that mean the most. And I'm sure he is going to have MANY more scores to come, you'll get those!
Whoo Hoo on the basket. I know what you mean about capturing the moment. Sometimes I'm glad I forget the camera, other wise I spend way too much time trying to get a "shot".
Oh I just love him!
Way to go John. that's so exciting! Even more for you I bet. Those moments are priceless, I can't wait for them!
