Seeing that the Christmas season is upon us, one of my favorite things to do is picking a Christmas tree. Since 1999, we have stayed true to our family tradition of selecting and cutting down our own Christmas tree. I just love the smell of a freshly cut tree. Some times it takes us a few hours walking around the farm, to find the right one for us. Usually I have to talk John into getting something that will actually fit into our house. I don't know why it is about "big" trees but is always attracted to them!
Most years we go here, in Vermont. It's about a four hour drive but well worth it. Generally, John and I make the trek and stay over for a night or two. The first time we ever went, we stayed for three nights here and it was truly spectacular. There was no snow when we arrived and by the next morning it was like a winter wonderland. We have stayed at a few other places too like here and here. All of them have are unique and I always enjoy our stay.
Last year we were unable to get away overnight. We took the boys on a day trip to a Christmas tree farm about an hour away. The name of it escapes me. It wasn't the same because there wasn't any snow and it was about 60 degrees out but, being with the boys, it was fun just the same.
This year we plan to go overnight again, if everything works out. I can't wait. For me, there's something magical about having my Christmas tree up and decorated. I just love it.
I'll leave you with a picture from a previous Christmas Tree journey! If you want to be included in Friday's Favorites. Shoot me an email and I'll link you up. Enjoy your weekend!

yeah we so have a fake tree...since the year i never water the real one and it caught on fire. mark is so anal about shit like that.
No real one for us. We have a pop up tree. It is soooo ghetto-fabulous! At least I have good ornaments!
PJ would so kill you for this picture! Remember to pick your days early so I know which one to take off!
mary, i think p.j. will kill me more for his picture titled, rent a cop!
poor p.j. Thanks for getting me excited about Christmas. I can't wait to get a tree!!!!
We started using an artificial a couple of years ago. Jade felt bad about cutting a tree down and then putting it on the curb. He's a dork like that. :) I love the smell of a fresh cut tree, too.
By the way, I love your music list. It gave me some great ideas for my ipod. Thank you!
Living in Lower Alabama, this sounds just heavenly to me. Something out of a storybook. We can get fresh trees at the grocery store, but blech! who wants to do that!
Found you through NaBloPoMo!
We used to always have a real tree growing up, and I miss that sooo much! Since Ry and I got married we always just stick with our old faithful-no-shed (lol) fake tree. Maybe we need to re-think it...the girls should smell a real tree at least once, right?!
I love having a real tree! We haven't done one in several years - we lived in southern California and I could never seem to get into the holiday spirit when it was 85 degrees outside! Maybe this year.
Love, love, love Vermont! My dad was stationed (Air Force) in Northfield for three years when I was younger. I can't wait to take my husband and children back to that area soon - I have nothing but fond memories.
Real ones are the bomb. We had a fake one a couple of times and it just is not the same. We just started cutting our own down instead of picking one out on a lot and I must say it adds a whole new feeling to Christmas!
