A highlight of motherhood....

I just had to share an excerpt of an email that I received from my 'lil sister, Mary. I couldn't resist posting this, as it just made me smile.
And, I found my true calling tonight. Seriously, it is way too much fun putting together easter baskets and stuffing stockings. For those two reasons alone...........I am a mother! This shit rocks! (I'm being serious too! I've had way too much quiet fun doing this tonight!)
You see, Mary is seven years my junior. Sometimes I just can't believe that she is a mother. I clearly remember the day my mom brought her home from the hospital nearly 28 years ago, on Easter morning, 1980. While years separated us when we were young, motherhood has bridged the gap between us. Now, I know she is probably laughing her butt off while reading this, (because sometimes she is just to cool!!!) it is all true. While she officially became a mother upon the birth of Thomas, her mothering began on an April 23, 2000 which was also Easter morning. This was the birthday of my son John, the first grandchild born to our family. Even at the young age of 19, Mary knew just how to lovingly care for a child. To John (and all her nephews and niece) she has not just been an aunt, she's like a second mother.
It is for all these reasons, that I am so happy that Mary can share in the special joy of motherhood!
Just think - you will have many more stockings to fill and Easter baskets to make!

It sounds like you have such a good relationship with your sister.
I have noticed as the years go by my sister and I get closer.

Glad your easter was lovely

Oh, how sweet is your love for little sis? And how sweet is her love for being a mother?

I love it.

Having a sis must be wondeful. All I got was my big bro Dave and although I love him, it's just not the same.

That's why Kim-D and I have adopted each other!!

That is also my sister Irene's birthday, and I know it has fallen on Easter many times. I think my mom has forgotten it because of Easter before:(

I'm also really into doing Christmas and Easter stuff. I can understand her obsession . . . AND I can always justify spending money on stuff like that for memories' sake, right?

This post is exactly why I searched and searched until I found the perfect little sis for me, Hallisicle.

I have gone on and on endlessly about how I always wanted at least one sister. You, Mary and Lisa are a perfect example of what I've always wanted.

And you just know how much I love the three of ya!

Being that I am sisterless, I really envy your relationship. What a nice Ode to Mary :)

She should frame this and put it somewhere she will see everyday. Whenever she is feeling blue or tired of all the mom mess, she can read this and I think it will give her encouragement when she needs it most.

What a sweet post!

My sister and I are nearly 4 years apart and we are SO different. She has a son who is 20 months, it's been nice to have something in common to talk about. Although, I laugh at listening to her complain about how busy she is and how she can't get anything done...HA!

the whole motherhood scene really brings moms and sisters closer. Espesally with being the youngest my older sisters were more like 2nd moms than anything. But now we are friends. It has been great

Aww, how precious. I hope my girls have such a sweet relationship when they are adults.

If only motherhood were all baskets, stockings and Disney vacations, I would have five more kids.

I'm still laughing at Jen M's comment...

It's nice to have a sister who is also a mother. I definitely agree it bridges an age gap - my sister is 10 years older than me but her youngest is the same age as my oldest.

How sweet! I always wanted a sister or a brother for that matter, being an only child I feel like I missed out on a lot of those family memories.

What a great post about your sister, Amy! She sounds like a dream little sister, but she's lucky to have such an appreciative older sis, too :)

Glad you all had a good Easter!

I have one sister, 11 years younger than me. And we live far away from each other.
So hopefully we'll end up like this, too!!
Thanks for the email!

Amy JEAN, my little jellybean! HAHAHAHA! So both you and Mary have April birthdays? And there are a whole bunch more, right? I LOVE April...and I wanna come to any and all parties you girls have! So I can hug and squeeze William, and rub John's (Little) red hair (cause I love me a red-headed boy, ya know!!!) and terrorize Matt, and on and on...WE WOULD HAVE SO FREAKIN' MUCH FUN THAT WE WOULD NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE IF I WAS ANYWHERE NEAR YOU THREE :)!

And when we're all there in Boston, I'm gonna knock Blender Kimmy to the ground and steal her Wii...I know I can take her down! HAHAHAHAHA! Not really, BK...
