The power of prayer and "blog" angels

Blogging has opened my eyes to a vast array of people. Each person with her own story. Though in our own areas, we may be be exposed to happy and sad times daily, through blogging I have learned about so much joy and heart ache that I otherwise would not know. What amazes me is how blogging has opened up lines of prayer. Through learning other peoples' stories, it solidifies the need for prayer. No longer am I just praying for my family, friends, neighbors, world leaders, etc. (and I emphasize that these are all still VERY important to me) but additionally, I am now praying for my blogging friends. It seems that daily, someone else pops up who could benefit by prayer. To some this may sound silly. For me it is real. For behind every story is a name, and behind each name is a person..... a real life person. One might think, well just prayer for the whole world. Of course, I do but there just seems to be something so much more powerful when you are really praying for someone and when that someone has a name and a story.

Having said all this, have you ever noticed that there are people who always leave such nice comments? They may not post often or even ever, but they always have something special to say in your comments. We all know people like this. I call them blog angels! A special thanks goes out to these individuals.

Now shouldn't we all feel good today knowing there is a lot of prayer spreading around and blog angels? What could be better?

Yes Amy. You know it's funny, one of my friends asked me recently after reading such nice comments on my page, "Do you *know* these people?"

I had to reply, "Well, I don't *know* them really. But in so many ways, I feel like I do."

Cheers to the blog angels!

TOUCHE, AMY! My blogging friends are ALWAYS in my prayers by name. And I hope that I am a person that is part of your prayers. I cannot imagine where I would be without my friends praying for me.

I love the world that blogging has opened up for me. Like you said, I love getting the stories behind the people. I love seeing the pix of the kids and families. I love being able to "be there" for my blog friends when needed. And I so love and so appreciate the support that I receive from my blog friends. Angels, indeed. And I have been blessed enough to get in on this!

Thanks for being one of those Angels :)!

This is a very sincere post. When I started blogging I didn't know other people would come visit my blog, I didn't know what a blog was, I just found it interesting. I am so thankful everyday for my blog, because of the people, the people who visit, the people who leave nice comments, the people who have stories to tell and pictures to share. I have been surprised with how openly people have talked about prayer, prayer requests and religion in general. I am also surprised with how nice everyone is. I have not met anyone that has been cruel or negative. Thank you for being one of those special people for me.

I agree with Jessica - I consider you one of my blog angels! I honestly think I go to bed at night and sleep a little sounder knowning that there is a community of people out there that I have never 'met', but who consider me worthy of their time, and who would do anything to help. I know I don't always get back to you, but those little e-mails checking in on me make my day!

I like that label, blog angels sounds so comforting.

And you are right, I think in many ways, we are all lucky to have those people out there who touch us all in such a nice way!

Thank you for such a nice post. It's funny because I feel like I know you and so many other women who blog and I've never even met them. Although, it feels like I have. My hubby and I will be talking and I will say, "oh guess what happened to so and so?" I forget that he doesn't know who I am talking about. He listens, asks which one they are. It's crazy. Like you said, I keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers now, too. I love it.

Yeah for blogging. :)

I saw your post today and it was kind of similar to a post I did on Thursday only mine was geared more towards what I have learned however I agree with you about the prayer part too. I have on more then one occasion said a little prayer for someone I have “met” via a blog.

This is so true, Amy! I feel like I've acquired so many new friends through blogging, and it's comforting to know there are so many really nice people out there! I'm very touched when someone tells me they are praying for me or my family, and I will do the same for them in return.

Thanks for this post and for being someone I now consider a new friend!

You are so right. I have several right now and it's great. It's amazing. I think sometimes my blog world friends check in on me more than some of my real world friends. It's wonderful to have such a great support system.

I totally agree! It helps to have people thinking and praying for us when we need it :)

This was so nice and so true! I am a big believer in the power of prayer and it is a blessing to be able to support other bloggers and have them support you through friendship and prayer.

Have a good weekend - see you later. Kellan

Might be one of the nicest posts I have ever read.

I have actually posted a few things that people have responded that they will keep me in my prayers. It has helped more than anyone could ever know.

I am so amazed and touched by the people I have met in this blogging community. I never imagined anything like this, but everyone has been WONDERFUL!!

I'm glad I started blogging, just knowing there are people like me out there going through similar things. I do think you develop a quasi relationship with bloggers and think about them in their times of need.

Oh, I could not agree more. Computers and the internet have added some undesirable problems to our society, but the social interaction possible with people we would never otherwise know is truly amazing. Great post!

Amy said...

you are so right...it's hard to explain to people who don't blog how you feel so connected to the people you "meet" blogging..it's almost like Christmas everyday opening your email and reading comments from people who "get you"

Janice {Run Far} said...

I love blogging too, and being able to make connections (if you want to call it that) with others that I will probally never meet is priceless to me. I love feeling the love form all who comment and then reading their blogs and learning more about them. You are always there at my blog ready with a comment, thanks you rock.

i think that a lot of people who don't blog don't understand the idea of 'blog friendships'. even though i haven't met some of these people, i feel like i know them like they were my neighbor!

i love my blog angels!

I love the term "Blog Angels" because that is exactly what they are. It is funny because me prayer list has gotten longer but so has my praise list. I know that I have felt so much more encouraged here in the nippled desert without my friends and family, because of the funny and caring comments I get from awesome people like you.

I feel the same way about my blog friends and the people who come by and leave notes.

I too am praying for people who I wouldn't even know if not for this. It's amazing how God works eh?!
