While it's Wednesday, Charlie came home from school with us because Abby had dance lessons. I had just made the boys lunch when Charlie requested to eat on the floor in the family room. I vetoed his plan and told him and Matt that they had to eat their sandwhiches at the kitchen table. To Charlie's dismay he replied, "back in the olden days you use to let us eat on the floor and watch t.v." He was correct. The olden days, however, ended last week when I came to the realization that my family room rug has seen better days! I would love a new rug but I must retrain these guys that the olden days have passed. The future is here and it's time to eat at the table. I am sure they will catch me at a weak moment and those olden days will be once again... the golden days! Until then, all meals will be consumed at the kitchen table!

Cute. Very cute. We have trouble with that one too.
I used to let the kids eat in the toy room, till there was crushed popcorn, cheerios, and other various undetermined species found in there. Occasionally I give in, but it's usually when I am too tired to care. Those two look like they could get into some mischief! :)
Ooh, I wish I would suck it up and apply the "no eating in the car" rule. Although stale goldfish crumbs and lollipop specks do make for a good snack in a pinch. :)
Charlie still has fluff on his face :)
I love when they have messy faces but don't know it. And probably don't care.
that's so cute...Landon my 9 year old will always say things like "remember a long time ago like in 2005 when we use to ..." and I always laugh at his perspective...
i used to allow that in the olden days too. until the exploding yogurt incident. now they eat in the kitchen.
In the olden days???
What kids will say.,...
My stepson seem to think if you allow it once, then it is common practice. I usually make him eat at the dining room table. He can barely make it out of the kitchen without pizza sliding off his plate. Thank goodness we have a dog.
I'm working on that one, too! I keep finding food everywhere in my house!
Way to go, mom. I enforced that rule, too, about a year ago. I insist that everyone eat at the table for dinner, at least. Everyone complies except my husband, who can't separate himself from ESPN or the Golf Channel.
Ah, the good old days :)

The olden days are ALWAYS bettter!!
So vacation bathrooms do you in too? Even though technically that's your home for a certain chunk of time?
Maybe I'm not as a big a bathroom phobe as I thought!! There may be hope for me yet!

When I first got my car I did not allow the kids to eat in it, but I eventually caved...it is just easier!

I did the same thing, Amy. When my kids were younger they would spill their milk or juice from sippy cups, etc. and drop crumbs all over the place, my carpet was gross! We got new carpet in our family room and I don't allow them to eat in their much, although we do have tv trays and on occasion they do eat at them. We still have a spill now and then, but they do get less frequent the older your kids get, one benefit! :)

p.s. I thought Thomas was yours! Now I realize he is your sister Mary's little guy!
Where is he skiing? We were supposed to go this Saturday, but with another snowstorm and this stomach thing, I'm not so sure!

Your boys are ABSOLUTELY darling.
now you are taking credit for mine too! oh man!
I need to apply no food in the livingroom to my husband :) I love him, but he has a leaving dishes wherever he goes. Maybe with this rule I could contain the dishes to one room :)
awwwww..i love the olden days!
and those are two VERY handsome young men there....
;o)
a-licious xoxoxo
(hum...maybe it was 30? i sure can't remember now...lol) haha!
Yeah I've turned into a mean old mommy too! But I got the couchs cleaned (AGAIN) and decided enough was enough. It's a constant battle around here, and man are kids tricky when they think aren't looking!
Okay, here's the deal. I no longer even care which children belong to which sister, and who posts pictures. As long as SOMEONE keeps the pix coming, I'll be happy. Just look at those two faces...awww! Really, all of my blogger friends have the BEST-LOOKING kids! I have never before spent so much time "saying AWWW :)!
Apparently, the olden days were very good to those two boys, because they sure came out of the olden days looking young...and just incredibly cute!
