Almost but not quite out-smarted by

an 8 year-old. I should preface this post by saying that today was a rainy-stay-in-your-p.j.s-play-with-your-toys-build-blanket-forts-kind-of-day for my boys, that is. While my day was also pretty lazy and carefree, I did manage to get some cleaning and organizing done around here.

In my efforts to achieve order in this house after a rather unstructured day, I told my boys that we would not make chocolate-chip cookies until both the t.v. room and the playroom were perfect. Quick on his toes, John replied, "Mom. Nothing in life is perfect." Perhaps I used the wrong word. I replied, "John you are indeed correct. Nothing in life is perfect. That being said, I want these rooms neat, tidy, and everything put away - for me, that's pretty close to perfect. Now if you want to make cookies get these rooms pretty close to perfect!"

After some whining and cleaning, we all made chocolate-chip cookies!

Yummm, you can go right ahead and send me some of those cookies!

What a funny kid, too smart if you ask me! You are definitely going to have your hands full, but in a good way!

Oh, he's a quick one! And smart too - you're in trouble if he's that smart now! Bet those cookies are good!

HAHAHA...the only thing I love better than a red-headed boy is a SMART red-headed boy :)! It truly was an almost "gotcha"--but I'm glad it all worked out so y'all can enjoy those cookies. May I come forage for crumbs? HAHA!

What a "perfect" line. They haven't figured out the shove everything in one spot thing yet have they?

Yeah, it's sad when the day comes that you realize, they are smarter than you. The key is not letting them know you know!
I deal with quick wit a lot around here. It's been a challenge. If anything though it's kept my mind young I think!

Hi, Amy!

Thanks for stopping by and saying "hi"! I'm glad you and all your men are doing well! I love all the pictures you have up, your boys and your nephews and niece are all so adorable! My family and I are all doing fine, busy as usual, what else is new? :) I wrote a little addendum to my post, was feeling kind of bad about the way I worded things and wanted to clear things up. Well, take care and have a great Mother's Day with your beautiful family!

What is it with the whining? Why can't we get anything done without it? Man, if I had one wish...

Sounds like you've got a quick thinker on your hands!

I love pj-days! I could use one myself. And ending it with home-made chocolate chip cookies? That's as close to perfect as I know :)
